Anubis is the most important god of underworld. Anubis whose name means a jackal headed god of mummification in Egyptian name. In the ancient Greek language, Anubis also spelled as Anpu, Inpu, Ienpw or Imeut.

Anubis was the son of Nephthys, and his father was Osiris. Anubis known as God of Embalming, portrayed as a man with jackal head and holding scepter on his hand. He is also portrayed as a black jackal or as a black dog accompanying Isis.

Anubis was the god in-charge to protect and bring the dead on their path though the afterlife. Anubis invented embalming to embalm the body of Osiris (the first mummification) after he was killed by Set, thus preserve him to live again. His position as god of the dead was later took over by Osiris during the Middle Kingdom.

Anubis statute can be found on most of the ancient tombs in Egypt cemeteries. He has many roles, where he watched over the mummification process, leads the souls of the deceased to Judgment Hall of Ma’at and monitors the Scales of Truth to protect the dead.
